Bedbugs Found in Nursing Homes

Bedbugs are now showing up in nursing homes. Since their arrival in New York City where a majority of the residents are foreign-born, bedbugs have spread to every area of the country. In March, public health officials in Wake County, North Carolina, said infestations were discovered in five adult-care housing facilities. As a result, homes are restricting what personal possessions residents can bring with them inside, including furniture. "You have to be careful about anything from Craigslist, from second-hand stores and anything you see left by the side of the road," said Catherine Goldman, an NC human sevices senior practitioner.
